Publications experience
I briefly had my own fashion column in local magazine Society Life. The publication targeted residents of Keller, Colleyville, Southlake, Trophy Club, and Grapevine, Texas.
Society Life Magazine fashion column. I selected all the items represented, and wrote the copy.
Note: For this winter edition, the copy accompanying the blue pendant necklace is not mine. The piece was added to the layout by the editor just before the issue went to press. I had supplied a different article headline as well, and assume it was changed due to character count/layout. Had I been able to review layouts prior to printing, I would have fixed the kerning/tracking error in the headline.
The magazine's fitness issue presented a true stretch opportunity for me (no pun intended), as I rarely exercise!
BeautiControl Achiever magazine spread
Excerpt from the above Achiever spread:
The gray bar across the bottom of the page contains a sales/product-demonstration tip that I researched and wrote. From a strategy standpoint, the tip is powerful because it helps both the sales person and the end customer. It’s a tip customers will remember, and remember where they heard it. It has a “sticky” quality that makes it an effective marketing tool. Click to enlarge.

American Airlines AAdvantage program newsletter
I was privileged to be hired to write the American Airlines AAdvantage program's newsletter. I started off writing the monthly U.S. edition and four of the company's eight international versions (including versions in Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese). After my first year as the newsletter's author, it was honored with Inside Flyer magazine's Freddie Award for Best Frequent Flyer Program Newsletter. I was especially proud when I found out that one voter had commented that they thought our newsletter was "the best written."
The other four international newsletters were handled by another copywriter. When she left, I asked to take them over (these included versions in UK English, French, and German). The agency I worked for had never had a sole writer handle the entire newsletter catalog, and were skeptical that it could be done. I knew that not only could I do it, but I could do it with greater efficiency. I got my wish and, as a result, our team was able to reduce both the number of internal review rounds and overall production time.
HomeVestors custom publication
In celebration of HomeVestors' 10-year anniversary, the company produced its first-ever magazine. I worked with a custom publisher and a graphic designer, and wrote all of the copy and ads, with the exception of two articles.

Pfizer Sana La Rana newsletter
Sana La Rana was a newsletter I wrote while working for Dallas-based Hispanic marketing agency Dieste Harmel. Pfizer was an existing client, but this was a new piece of business we were going after. We created two designs for the newsletter -- the stark, deliberately clinical-looking one you see below, and a more colorful version, meant to look more like a traditional newsletter or magazine. Pfizer liked both approaches so well that they bought both to test against each other.
All marketing copy I produced while at Dieste Harmel was written in English, and then translated into Spanish. I have a variety of samples from my time there that are bilingual.
Hi Five client & prospect eNewsletter
I curated content for and set up this eNewsletter in HubSpot. Two versions went out each month; the one shown below, and one for clients of another BH subsidiary. Click the preview image to see the entire October 2017 issue.
