Employee engagement guest blog post for Poppulo
In 2018, I was invited to write a blog post on employee engagement for the internal communications SaaS company Poppulo. Since it is a topic about which I'm pretty passionate, the piece basically wrote itself.

Employee engagement program development
I was one of three employees assigned to create ADT's new employee recognition program. We worked with an external vendor to build the program; once the branding and program structure were in place, we rolled out the program companywide.
One of my duties was building and maintaining the Royal Blue intranet site. The image below shows an example of an employee dashboard page, which had a carousel banner at the top of the page. The banner would rotate images that featured the winners of the quarterly Royal Blue Award, along with quotes from the entry submissions. The three image/quote combos you see at the bottom of that page were the other images in rotation within the carousel banner at the time I took the screen shot. I created and added a new banner to the rotation each quarter.

The Royal Blue communications toolkit for managers lived on the Customer Experience intranet site, and offered information that the different ADT offices and managers could use to promote awareness of the engagement program among employees. Again, I created graphics and layout, and wrote the content.
In the trio of photos to the left, the one at the top shows me receiving my own Royal Blue Award from our team lead, VP of Operations Jeff Ward.

Internal company rebrand announcement
When it's time to announce significant changes to employees, I don't believe in taking the lazy route. With this company rebrand announcement, it would have been easy to tell employees, "We have written public announcements about our new brand, so clients already know about it," insert the approved verbiage about "fulfilling our company mission . . ." and let that be the end of it.
I prefer to look for opportunities to give employees (and clients, for that matter) something beyond the approved rhetoric -- a straightforward message that feels like it came from a human, and leaves them feeling better and/or more optimistic and excited about the change being communicated. ADT Idea Generator emails
A series of auto-generated emails created for the ADT Idea Generator, an employee engagement program. The program sought to gather ideas from within the company regarding everything from process improvements to new product ideas. The ideas were to be submitted online through the company intranet site. Submission of an idea would trigger the email series.
When an idea was selected for implementation, the employee responsible for suggesting the idea would be invited to join the team handling the project. The employee's level of involvement would be tailored to suit their interest and workload.

To employee upon submission of idea:
To members of the CX leadership team:
The following emails would be triggered at 7 and 14 days post-receipt of idea, if a decision email had not yet been deployed.
