60th birthday party invitation
My mother, brother and I threw my dad a surprise dinner party in celebration of his 60th birthday, The invitation cover featured a quote from Andre Maurois: "Growing old is no more than a bad habit which a busy man has no time to form."
The invitations were made using black heavy card stock and medium-weight white card stock. I cut slits on either side to insert a black ribbon, which needed to be untied in order to open the invitation. The envelopes were translucent white vellum. I also made matching place cards for the dinner table: Black and white card stock with black ribbon ties. |
The copy inside the invitation on the top panel paid off the quote on the front: "It looks like Ben Murray has had a lot of time on his hands lately."
On the bottom panel, the copy read: "Ben's 60th birthday is approaching. To celebrate, we'd like you to join us for a surprise dinner party to be held on Saturday, March 27, 1999" Time and place details followed, along with a reminder to keep it a secret. |
